COMMISSION A PORTRAIT PAINTING
Service Description
Commission Process: Each painted portrait begins with a dedicated one-hour portrait session designed specifically for painting. This gives me full control over lighting, composition, and reference quality — critical elements that elevate the final oil painting. The Session: Sessions take place indoors at your location or a rented temporary space (e.g., studio or Airbnb). Session Fee: $200 — This is required to book and initiates the commission process. Rental costs (if needed) are passed through at my cost with no markup. Travel outside the local region is available within the USA and internationally: These trips are quoted separately with a dedicated contract covering all expenses and logistics. During the session, we’ll capture and review a variety of images together and select the strongest reference for the painting. Portrait Pricing: Prices are based on size, complexity, and number of subjects (individuals, couples, children, or families). All paintings are oil on wood panel. Starting Prices: 16 × 20" — $1,800 18 × 24" — $2,600 24 × 36" — $4,200 Custom sizes larger than 24 × 36" quoted individually. Most commissions can receive a preliminary quote before the session based on your vision. Any scope changes will be discussed and agreed upon upfront. Local commissions include personal delivery and wall installation when practical. Using an Existing Photo: If you have a photo you’d like to use, please contact me first for review and approval. Not all images translate well into painting — approval is required before proceeding without a new session. Next Steps: Select your preferred session date and submit the request below. Cancellation Policy
Deposit & Booking: A $100 non-refundable retainer secures your session and is applied toward your total session fee. The remaining balance is due on the day of the session (or in advance if preferred). Sessions are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and are confirmed once the retainer is paid. Rescheduling: One free reschedule is allowed with at least 7 days’ notice (subject to availability). Reschedules with less than 7 days’ notice incur a $50 fee. New dates must be scheduled within 3–6 months. Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations with more than 14 days’ notice may have the retainer credited toward a future session (valid for 12 months). Cancellations under 14 days, same-day cancellations, or no-shows forfeit the retainer. The full session fee may apply if not yet paid. Emergencies & Flexibility: Illness, family emergencies, or other unavoidable circumstances will be handled flexibly, and the retainer can often be credited toward a rescheduled session. Payments: Accepted via Venmo, PayPal, or credit card. Automated reminders are sent 1 week and 1 day before the session. Additional Notes: Sessions start on time. Late arrivals may result in a shortened session or rescheduling with applicable fees.
